Getting off to a good start!

Here I am again. I’m writing from one of the offices of my hosting organization.

It’s just 2 days that I’m here and I already feel to be here since some months.

Yesterday I spent a beautiful day with my sweet mentor, Medine. The aim was to carry out some bureaucratic stuff, but of course we also chatted (a lot), drank Turkish coffee and tea and started to know the city. Unfortunately, the weather was not so good but at least the rain stopped a bit. (but it was freezing!)

First impression of Izmir : I like it a lot! It’s quite big but very well connected with metro and busses (it seems also easy to travel without getting lost, but I will let you know the first time I’ll go by myself..!)

And then, a relaxing night, chatting and smoking narghilè with my home mates!

Ps: I don’t want to stop, so a weekend in Bursa and the “on arrival training” in Istanbul are waiting for me next week.. what more could I want?

Cominciare a ingranare

Eccomi di nuovo qui. Vi scrivo da uno degli uffici presso cui svolgerò il mio sve.

Sono passati solo due giorni e già mi sembra di essere qui da mesi. 

Ieri ho passato una bellissima giornata con la mia dolce mentor, Medine. L’obiettivo era quello di svolgere alcune procedure burocratiche, ma ovviamente abbiamo unito a questo tante chiacchiere, un po’ di the e caffè turchi e un iniziale giro per la città. Il tempo purtroppo non era dei migliori ma almeno la pioggia ci ha dato un po’ di tregua (però ecco, si gelava abbastanza!) 

Prima impressione della città: molto positiva! È parecchio grande ma molto ben collegata da metro e bus (sembra anche facile girarci senza perdersi, ma ve lo farò sapere la prima volta che ci andrò da sola..!)

Per concludere, tranquilla serata tra chiacchiere e narghilè con i miei coinquilini!

Ps: giusto per non stare mai ferma, mi aspettano un bel weekend a Bursa e 6 giorni a Istanbul per l’ “On arrival training”.. cosa vuoi di più dalla vita?!

Pps: oggi la mia giornata è iniziata così, facendo colazione dal mio salotto(vd sopra :))

Let’s start this adventure!

Yes, it seems that my dream is coming true.

Yesterday night I’ve reached the charming Turkish land for the fourth time, and this time will not be a hit-and-run.. 8 months of work, trips, fun, new meetings and friendships are waiting for me.. this is that adventure called EVS!

Am I ready? I don’t know, but I’m sure I will discover it soon and I will put all my heart to face it in the best way.

Am I worried? Yes, a bit! Starting a new life in a country with another culture and language is not always easy.

The thing that I know is that,

also if it’s raining and it doesn’t seem it will stop early,

also if it will be difficult to learn Turkish,

also if I will be far from home for some months,

as soon as I landed I could breathe an homely atmosphere, everybody here is really hospitable, I can already feel a bit mine this apartment and this city, my first night passed chatting, drinking cay and smoking narghilè..

and in this moment I would like to be here and not in any other place.

Giorno 1 – 17 gennaio 2016, Izmir

Iniziamo questa avventura!

Ebbene sì, quello che da un po’ di mesi era il mio sogno nel cassetto, sembra stia iniziando ad avverarsi.

Proprio ieri sera sono atterrata nell’affascinante terra turca per la quarta volta, e sta volta non sarà una toccata e fuga.. mi aspettano 8 mesi di lavoro, viaggi, divertimento, nuovi incontri e amicizie.. insomma, di quell’avventura che chiamano SVE!

Sono pronta? Non lo so, ma sono sicura che lo scoprirò presto e che ci metterò tutta me stessa per affrontarla al meglio.

Sono spaventata? Beh, un pochino ovviamente si! Iniziare una nuova vita in un paese culturalmente diverso dal proprio, dove si parla una lingua lontana dalla propria.. mica è così facile.

Quello che so è che, 

anche se mi ha accolto una pioggia che sembra non voglia mollare e un cielo bello grigio,

anche se sarà difficile imparare il Turco,

anche se sarò lontana da casa per un po’ di mesi,

appena atterrata ho respirato aria di casa, qui sono tutti ospitali al massimo, questo appartamento e questa città li sento già un po’ miei, la mia prima serata è passata tra chiacchiere, cay e narghilè.. 

e in questo momento non vorrei essere in nessun altro posto se non qui.
